Beer and Flatbread Pairing with Hermitage Brewing

Food & Drink
6:00pm - 7:30pm
$12.00

With Hermitage Brewing Come enjoy an evening of beer and flatbreads! In this class, we will be trying the following brews: Copious | West Coast IPA brewed with Centennial and Citra hops | 7.2% ABV Sunset Crusher | Session IPA with notes of lemongrass and tropical fruit | 5% ABV Keep the Heid | Scotch Style Ale malt forward with caramel characteristics | 9% ABV Citra Single Hop IPA | Floral, resiny citrus, slight caramel malt notes | 7% ABV Two Tun Imperial Stout | A moderately full bodied stout | 9% ABV Pilsner People of the Universe | Brewed with German Pilsner malt and Saaz hops | 5.2 % ABV Golden Solera Sour: By only removing a fraction of the Foeder’s contents, each release keeps our Solera projects alive and ever- evolving as new layers age and complexity are added to the overall blend. Solera Golden Ale is dry hopped to give it a bright, tropical finish. We pulled this from our Foeder tank named Ophion. Each beer will be paired with New Leaf's own (brand new) pizza menu. You can expect to try the Spicy Hawaiian with sours, the Blanco with Pilsners and Classic Pepperoni with IPAs. About the Brewery: At Hermitage Brewing, we think of our beers as "A retreat from the ordinary". We are not a mainstream brewery. We don’t copy; we create. Brewmaster Peter and Cellarmaster Greg are obsessive about our quality, and passionately focus on brewing beers that are flavorful, rich in character, aroma driven and unique. We make beers we want to drink. We are finding an audience for this. Are you with us? We’re always experimenting with new ideas and new approaches that take us –outside the ordinary.

Movie Night: Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret

Film, Media & Entertainment
6:00pm - 8:00pm

Presented by Educator Sandi Rechenmacher, NC Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret (2014) is a groundbreaking feature-length environmental documentary following intrepid filmmaker Kip Andersen as he uncovers the most destructive industry facing the planet today – and investigates why the world’s leading environmental organizations are too afraid to talk about it. Animal agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation, water consumption and pollution, is responsible for more greenhouse gases than the transportation industry, and is a primary driver of rainforest destruction, species extinction, habitat loss, topsoil erosion, ocean “dead zones,” and virtually every other environmental ill. Yet it goes on, almost entirely unchallenged. As eye-opening as Blackfish and as inspiring as An Inconvenient Truth, this shocking yet humorous documentary reveals the absolutely devastating environmental impact large-scale factory farming has on our planet, and offers a path to global sustainability for a growing population. Learn why eating a plant-based diet is best for all living on this beautiful planet. About Sandi: Sandi Rechenmacher is a whole foods, plant-based (WFPB) nutritional consultant, educator, and chef. Her passion is supporting people to nourish and revitalize their bodies, minds, and spirits via a diet based on nutrition science.
